IL GATTOPARDO - ICONIC ITALIAN
Entering the Mayfair restaurant Il Gattopardo is like stepping back into 1950s Italy, a time when the country was at the pinnacle of opulent design. Situated on Albemarle Street, Il Gattopardo captures the essence of Italy's Golden Age with an interior inspired by Gio Ponti and Carlo Mollino’s Turin apartment. You feel transported to an old Hollywood set, surrounded by timeless décor and rich textures. Il Gattopardo, meaning ‘The Leopard’ in Italian, subtly incorporates its namesake throughout the interior with carefully painted blue leopard motifs adorning the walls. Although the interior exudes luxury, Parisian design duo Dion & Arles have infused it with the seduction and playfulness of bygone Italian summers, blending classical design elements with mid-century modernism. Overhead, hanging vines in a vineyard colour palette complement the geometric wall design, while mirrored ceilings create the illusion of a Mediterranean veranda. Angled skylights allow streams of light to flood this cosy setting, making it perfect for leisurely lunches that stretch into the late afternoon.
The interior designers opted for a bespoke twist on our ASH109 pull handle design. This cranked handle with additional ring detailing fits beautifully with the fashionable 'quiet luxury' lifestyle, presenting an effortlessly chic entrance and outdoor seating area adorned with dark glossy wood and gold detailing. The flawless execution is a testament to our commitment to quality and British manufacturing.
This superb restaurant and design have been featured in Wallpaper*, House & Garden, Country & Town House and the Financial Times.
